At Gospel Hope Church, we believe that ministry is best learned through hands-on experience, intentional mentorship, and deep engagement with the life of the local church. Our internships are designed to give students a meaningful opportunity to grow in their faith, develop ministry skills, and discern God’s call for their future. The goal of the internship is fourfold: exposure to ministry leadership, personal discipleship in specific ministry skills, developing a greater love for Jesus and His church, and helping GHC advance a specific area of ministry during your time with us. We are looking for interns who are humble, hungry, happy, and helpful — students who are eager to learn, serve joyfully, and invest in the body of Christ. We welcome applications from all college students who have completed at least their first year and have a desire to serve, learn, and be stretched for the sake of the gospel.

What can you expect?

The GHC pastoral team wants to cultivate a training environment for men and women who love Jesus and want to serve His church. We want to create an atmosphere of coaching and discipleship that is both encouraging and developmental. Our goal is to share our lives with you as well as provide formal discipleship, key training resources, and opportunities for practical ministry experiences.

General Expectations

  • Worship in one Sunday service and seek to serve in the other. Use pre- and post-service times to meet people, pray with them, and engage in spiritual care. If there is no Equip Class, use that time to meet people and minister.

  • Listen attentively and worship well during church services. Sing, pray, take notes, and engage the text; be an active listener. Model what it means to worship in spirit and in truth.

  • Embrace a disposition of humble service, gratitude, and joy in the Lord. Have a posture of readiness, initiative, helpfulness, and a growth mindset.

  • Serve the body of Christ, disciple people, build teams, invest in others, grow as an equipped servant of Christ and his church.

  • Lead an ongoing formal discipleship relationship with at least one person at least 2x/month (a minimum of 6 meetings throughout the summer).

  • Seek to be on-time to meetings and come prepared with the assignments completed and ready to engage.

Along with the normal weekly routines and rhythms of GHC, you will have the opportunity to serve in Plant Camp as we host about 135 students and sponsors from six different churches across the U.S. You will have opportunities to serve, teach, plan, and participate in everything from children’s ministry to teens, from Sunday worship to summer camp.

GHC Internship FAQ

  • This internship seeks to discover, develop, and deploy ministry-minded college students to make disciples in the missional context of the Salt Lake Valley. Growth in a love for Jesus, His church, and His mission is a primary aim.

  • This internship is designed for 2-4 Christian men and women who will help facilitate the ministry, outreach, and organizational operations of GHC during the summer. The commitment entails 8-10 weeks (approximately May 29-Aug 9, 2026) during the summer and some initial readings/Zoom calls in preparation for the summer.

  • We primarily are interested in 4 particular characteristics in our interns; Humble, Hungry, Happy, and Helpful. Humble: this person wants to learn, is teachable, and willing to take correction and sacrifice ego for the mission. Hungry: this person is self-motivated, hard-working, and is willing to initiate development instead of having to be pulled along. Happy: While life is hard and not everything will be sunshine and sunflowers, we are looking for people who overall have a joyful outlook and are expecting God to work great things in their lives this summer. Helpful: We want people who think they can add to the organization, bring ideas and service to the table, and are aware of their gifts that can be used during the summer.
